Better than the trolls claim....
We liked the leveling up weapons & magic, the dark fantasy setting and the two protagonists. The two characters (Caddoc & E'lara) are an excellent team. They play off each other very well, & my son & I both liked the fact that E'lara wasn't some "damsel in distress" stereotype or generic love interest. She is a skilled fighter in her own right, & Caddoc respects her as a fellow merc.
The story was entertaining & the environments were varied so it wasn't an "oh look another similar underground dungeon" situation. The lore is also very cool, as is the idea of having "Death Stones" to be able to listen to the spirits of the dead.
The combat was fun & frantic. There is enough variety between magic, ranged & melee attacks to make you feel like you have a variety of combat options. The enemies are cool as well; and there is enough dialogue to actually make it a story rather than a mindless hack n slash.
The only minor gripe I had was the lack of variety in weapon pickups. Not a major lack in variety, mind you. But I would have preferred more names for weapons & multiple different enchantments. As well as it seemed like I was for the most part picking up weapons that were lesser than what I already had.
For future DLC or part two I would love: lots of chapters of new stories (as I loved this game's), more weapons variety (names, enchantments & types), options on how the screen is split (there is a minor amount of "dead space", though not as bad as Killzone 3), more magic & weapon abilities, & more levels to earn. The graphics were good, though they could've been better.
It was a very fun experience & a breakthrough title for a two player split screen fantasy game. GREAT JOB INXILE & BETHESDA!!! GIVE ME SOME MORE PLEASE!!!
