A sandbox game from the pre sandbox game era.
Hunter had a nice graphics at the time and they operated well on the vast surroundings of water and land. Sound effects, well, were there. Controls - as I recall - were a bit sluggish when you were on foot but in a vehicle they worked better.
There were various vehicles to choose from (the usual cars, tanks, helicopters, boats, windsurfers etc...) or traveling by foot was always a good choise. Swimming on the other hand was not recommended.
When encountering a bad guy there was a lot of weaponary to choose from regarding you could find them. Homes and warehouses were excellent places to search.
The game had missions that were given to me from the HQ and you had to do them within a time limit - which was annoying. The missions were simple: kill someone, destroy something, retrieve and object or rescue a hostage. Nothing fancy - like in the games today :)
Also there was a freeplay mode which according to wikipedia is the primary game mode 'hunter' in which you go and try to kill an enemy general (I had no idea).
All in all it was so fun just go around and find new vehicles to test and new weaponary to use. And it was always hilarious to fall from your surfboard and be eaten by a shark.
