ico is an under appreciated masterpiece. never before has any developer created a game as beautiful as this. the ethereal world of ico is wholly absorbing. as the title character you attempt to escape an eerie castle in which you were imprisoned for being born with horns. early in the game, you meet the ghostly and enchanting yorda. she does not speak the same language as ico, so their relationship develops with a simple and unparalleled charm. the entire castle is a brilliant maze. you progress by solving elaboate puzzles area by area. the fighting system is simple yet engaging. you franticly beat shadowy villains who seek to steal yorda from you. when these wraiths disperse you feel relieved and secure. like no other videogame, ico is a work of art. its beauty is in its simplicity.
