Honestly one of the greatest games I've ever played.
I feel a lot of gamers missed out on some truly amazing games. 3do had almost no limitations on what game you could develop for their system so you got to see some very unique and sometimes crazy games come out for the system.
To this day Immercenary is one of the greatest games I've ever played.
The game is well ahead of it's time.
The story:
It's the future and people are really into this no MMORPG virtual reality game (interesting prediction because 3do actually developed the first MMO and seeing how addicted people are to WOW is this far off base?)
Something goes wrong and all of the people get trapped inside the virtual reality game. With the help of some researchers it's your job to get jacked into the virtual reality world and figure it out.
The game:
Basically the game is a FPS / RPG. You're in a large virtual reality world where every single person has a rank. In order to advance in rank you need to kill someone that is ranked above you. This leads to very cool game play. The top 10 ranked people in the world are all special looking bosses that have bases you can enter. Every now and then you'll see one of these high ranked people outside wandering around.
There is a neutral zone in the middle where you can recharge and communicate with other player and figure out whats going on. You also get guidance from your fellow researchers.
The story is very cool and its presented to you mainly through recorded video of actors.

I've really enjoyed this game over the years and would love to someday meet and talk to the developers that put it together.
