A promising, fun-at-time yet eventually a disappointing game.
The game's tutorial is hard to understand and provides very little help on the frustrating micromanagement of the game, which makes it even harder. If you aren't a very experienced city-builder gamer you will have a lot of trouble figuring out the complex game play. The demands of the citizens can be quite frustrating at times too.
The game also presents some very challenging objectives to fulfill, which may be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the player, objectives range from dealing with Nubian raiders to building forts around Egypt, to more economic oriented objectives. Compared to classic games such as Zeus and Pharaoh, Children of the Nile (even though more advanced graphic-wise) pales in comparison. It doesn't have the addictive drug injected in Zeus and Pharaoh, metaphorically speaking of course.
Overall I would recommend this game only to people who enjoy building cities from bare lands, who are interested in either the majestic land called Egypt or it's history at least.
