Need to patch it to get it running. Has sound card issues. Worth the trouble to play it. Comprehensive conquest.
Apart from that its a pleasantly considered game. The graphics are suited to the era it was written in but the actual game play is satisfying. There are still not many games on the market that allow you to simultaneously conquer multiple planets, build up individualized bases, build up production and then build fleets of spaceships to attack enemy planets and drop in the army to pacify them. The base building and space/ground battles interdigitate beautifully.
All in all, a game that I'd still be playing except for the troubles getting the game to start up.
It should have been a landmark game with subsequent development and fine tuning in multiple sequels. I guess the fact that you couldn't play it straight out of the box killed it. Sigh.
