Destroy him, my robots! So did cry evil scientist Elvin Atombender in Epyx's classic platformer, Impossible Mission. In order to stop Atombender's nefarious machinations, the player had 6 real-time hours to make his way through a complicated complex, searching for code cards which, when combined, would give the password needed to enter the secret lair and dispatch the maniac. If (and undoubtedly when) the player lost a man, 10 minutes would be deducted from the time remaining. Helping to run down the time are the plethora of devious (and sometimes stone stupid) robots more than willing to fry the hero with bolts of electric death from thier eye sockets. Probably the greatest thing about the game is the revolutionary smoothness of the graphics, making it one of the prettiest offerings for the good old 64. So, a platform game that ranks up there with the best of all time. Just don't tear out all of your hair trying to figure out the code cards. Here, it's the incredible journey that makes it great, not necessarily the destination.
