Highly addictive gameplay makes inFamous 2 is a worthy sequel to one of the best ps3 games ever made.
Gameplay: if you play the first infamous, you will find that there are not a lot of changes in this game in terms of combat. Combat is still smooth and fluid. But sometimes the camera can cause a problem if you are in a close space. Which is not often. Besides from having fire or ice powers. Cole can switch out his beam, grenade, and rocket powers for different variety. Such as sticky grenade, pincer beams and so on. Traversing the town and exploring the map feels exactly like it did before but on a larger scope. You still look for blast shards and dead drop just like before. The pacing is great. You unlock newer side missions as you get further along with the story. You will feel the need to do these side missions because if you only do the main missions, you will not have enough to unlock all your powers. When i played the game i was playing through as a good guy so naturally the citizen came to Cole's aid. Sadly they are not powerful enough to make any difference and if you kill them on accident. It will have a negative effect on Cole's karma. If you even hit a civilian, it will be recorded down and at the end of a mission the game will tell you how many people you injured or kill and tell you that your action has made you more evil. It is much easier if you play the game as a bad guy. Guess doing the easy way isn't always the right way. Speaking of karma, the karma system is a lot more robust this time around. You will need to make hard choices and some of them will affect the outcome of the game. During combat, as you get damaged by your enemies, your screen will turn black and white. It stays that way for a good 10 seconds and when you get shot at, 10 seconds is a long time. It motivates you to roll away and go absorb more electricity and return to the fight. It gives the game a "living on the edge feeling". While it is a fairly easy game, deaths can sometimes feel a little cheap. For example, if you get hit by a rocket and your health isn't full. You will instantly die. However, after a few times you will learn to evade and blast the rocket back to where it came from. There are some quick side missions to keep you busy while running around.
Story: if you haven't played the first one, i suggest you do but there is no need. The objective of the game is clear and simple. Decisions can make you good or evil and effect how you play the game. There are only a handful of characters so it won't be hard to follow the story.
Online: I have played a few online creations and from what I see it is a very promising tool. You can create a scenario and place enemies where ever you want. While the tools are not as robust as something like little big planet it will provide the game with an infinite amount of missions you can do. Some will be better than others of course.
Value: if you played the first infamous, you will love this game. If you have not played it, you will still love this game. This game provides a long and fun single player experience, and endless online missions. Well worth the 60 bucks. You will need to beat the story more than once to see all that it offers.
Conclusion: infamous is an extremely fun and lengthy game offering. With a clear and understandable story that offers a tremendous value along with the one of the best graphics engine for any open world game.
