Gameplay is repetitive but solid and the graphics are wonderful, but it still fails to live up to the hype..

Story->
In the first infamous Coal, the main character, received supernatural powers while on a courier job. His new ability to command electricity made him the talk of the town and the player was given the choice to be a villain or a hero. After some time finding out why he had the new powers he was warned of a coming evil that only he could stop. That evil was the beast and at the start of Infamous 2 it ravages the city you hold dear. You flee in search of new powers to defeat the beast and end up in a city surrounded by a swamp, that holds your victory.

While playing through infamous 2 the story did keep me interested and had enough plot twists to keep it going, it was a little cliché though. The moral decisions in this game are laughable, just what you expect, choose the good or choose the bad. Boring stuff.

Graphics->
You begin the game with a kickass boss battle that honestly made my jaw drop but you're quickly thrown into a city surrounded by a swamp. This choice confused me, it may tickle someone else's fancy but to me it's just a foggy, annoying backdrop. Perhaps a sea with ship debris that Coal had to navigate would have been much cooler as a backdrop. Even though the swamp is a bit boring the graphics engine is superb, they work well with what they've got and you'll constantly look in awe to the city's beautiful landscape. The lightning looks just right too as it sparks and illuminates the enemies and generators. The character models are well thought out, however after the 17th time you vs. a mini boss you feel a sense of repetition.

Gameplay->
The game play is the game's strong point, you can shoot variations of electric goodness at the enemies, that makes you feel like a badass. To regain electricity you suck it out of lights or whatever you can find, which also recovers your health and made Coal seem like a human battery. The platforming is actually my favourite part, you can grab whatever you see to climb the terrain, there is just so many animations that went into Coal, and it's all fluent and smooth. You can also hover and super jump (later in the game) and this makes it even more fun. The gameplay is solid but by the end of the game I really just wanted it to end, the repetitiveness of it all caught up fast and the shallow level creator was not enough to make me want to keep playing.

Conclusion->
The setting did not do it for me but the graphics engine improved the otherwise bland area. What it lacks in that it makes up in gameplay. However the gameplay does drag on towards the end. This game is worth your time though, don't get me wrong. At least rent it.

Rating->
I gave infamous 2 a 7.5 because it's above average but not quite refined enough to be any higher.

I find that high ratings are given out too often, a 5 should be a decent game, not a awful one.
