This game was on my "hesitant-to-buy" list for sometime, and I just recently picked it up (much delayed).
Lets be real, and lets be honest. This game is good. Take that however you want it. Here's how I'll break it down:
Story: The story in this game is actually pretty good. There are a lot of hidden messages and meanings intended upon the player that are useful once understood. The characters are pretty good, voice acting is decent, and there seems to be a little tighter connection than some open-world games. The whole concept can be kind of hard to grasp once you beat the game, but play through it a second time as the opposite side and it should clear up.
Audio: The sound is really good here, lightning effects are nice, some can have a good deep rumble that's pure entertainment. Music is a little less obvious in the game, rarely noted but doesn't necessarily sound bad.
Visuals: The way the game looks is decent. Characters look ok but for a first-party PS3 title I would have expected a little more. Then again, the gameplay makes up for it and it still looks really good. The lightning effects are really good, explosions are nice and all of those things, but some of the textures can just seem pretty low. And the geometry on some of the characters seems poor.
Overall, the game is very good, and its the gameplay that actually makes the game fun. Moving around the city on top of buildings in a "prototype-esque" fashion is fun, was fun, and always will be fun. Lightning powers are amazing, and its definitely worth playing through twice to discover the opposite powers.
This game is well made, seems that there was a lot of time put it in compared to some, and overall (again) comes out a very good PS3 exclusive title. 8.5
