So if you haven't heard by now, Infamous is a great game. It's a game that makes use of the open sandbox type game style as well as a third-person action game. I was a little hesitant seeing as I didn't like what seemed to be the status quo for open sandbox games, grand theft auto series or the assassins creed franchise. But there's just something about Infamous that works.

It's a combination of super-hero action game, explore the open city, climbing sky scrapers, kicking butt, upgrades, collecting crap and completing missions. The storyline sucks you into the game and causes you to want to know how the tale will end. While I found the game frustrating at first and the storyline kind murky and the characters uninteresting-those initial problems didn't last for long. Eventually, the great storyline, characters, choices and game-play just pull you into the game.

You might notice that the graphics aren't comparable to Uncharted 2 or whatever other standard is out there on the PS3, but this game just goes to show that you don't need to have the best graphics on the block, just immersible, incredible game-play, believable characters and an interesting storyline to boot.

The sounds in this game really help. The wind, the music, the sound of the above ground rail train system (similar to the Chicago "El"), the cars driving, honking, the people talking, the news updates on the TV. It all helps make Empire City a believable place.

In summary, infamous is a third-person action hero game using the open sandbox idea of gaming in an immersive wide open city with a great gritty urban feel proving that solid game-play, believable characters, an interesting storyline trump amazing graphics any day of the week.
