infamous is an action packed game with a great mixed up storyline and thrilling action and one big city.
When you first start the game you are greeted with a screen of people walking across a pathway and a press start caption, now you may think this will take you to a boring old menu screen but your wrong straight away you are pulled into the game with an explosion and cries from citizens of empire city, after that you start with cole the main character. Cole wakes up and start talking about what happened here and you can tell that he is injured by the excellent animations on him as he limps to safety, you walk up a building and get zapped by an electric transformer that was broken and he wonders what happened. After that you meet zeek now in my opinion zeek and all other characters apart from cole have ban animations and the just look stiff.
At some points in the game you are forced with a decision to do evil or good each one of these decisions has its effects on your reputation and the story, this really is great because you can control how you want to be in the game good or evil.
Cole has a massive amount of abilities each with their upgrades which you can upgrade with XP, you can unlock both attacks and defences buy completing the underground sewer missions and re-connect power to parts of the city, there are also a few cool abilities to make your playing a bit more easy like hovering and grinding, these can help on missions where you have to chase down objectives.
The story is rely messed up and confused but that doesn't stop the fun of it, at times it is un-predictable what is going to happen next and usually enemies come from anywhere and everywhere while you try to do something and this can be frustrating and fun, just make sure you kill the enemies or soon enough you will be chased with thousands of them. The story itself is like jak and daxter mixed up and messed up. And I can't tell you anymore of the story without giving it away.
The missions are a bit reparative which is a bit of a shame.
The music, well there isn't much of it and that's ok because there are heaps of sound effects, from dying people to trains going past or guns firing it just sounds like a big city. Also some times enemies will get really annoying when they talk to you and if you die in a boss fight you may hear the same speech over and over again.
The city is massive and well planned out so that enemies can reach you wherever you are and whatever your doing, it is also big with three sections to unlock and underground parts and usually is loading free. The weather is also very weird sometimes it is completely dark and other times there is just fog everywhere and this really adds to the experience and difficulty of the game.
Now the good stuff comes. The graphics is well good but not the best it lacks a bit of AA and there are allot of graphical glitches and well just glitches in general sometimes an enemy will fall behind a wall you then you can't kill him, also the pedestrians have seating glitches and all. Also you may get a head ach from looking at infamous for a long time. There is really good dynamic lighting though and by far some of the best explosions I have ever seen on a console.
The controls of the game are quite easy to get used to and usually you can do complex things realy easily but sometimes the auto-grab feature gets annoying, the controls themself are just like well a normal rpg game and thats fine.
infamous also has tons of colectables including trophies and blast shards all aorund the city, blas shards if colected give you more power and they trophies are rewarded for doing certin things.
Overall if you have to money to spare and the time on your hands this game is a must have for the ps3, its variety of action packed moments and stunning game play are worth what you pay.
