A pretty generic zombie shooter: but still fun.

User Rating: 6.5 | Infected PSP
Infected: it is a horror themed Zombie third person shooter, while it is a fun game: the game is also pretty generic in it's own right. The game though isn't by any means bad: it's just wasted opportunities that could of made a much more compelling game.

Infected starts off as about a week before Christmas and a virus breaks out in New York City: you are officer Stevens. The games setting is pretty comical: as it feels somewhat relevant to the comedy Shaun of the Dead. The game is not at all serious: it is pretty humerus at many times: The humor is pretty cruel though: so that may offend some people, the game also has quite a bit of swearing: but it all works in the comedic way the game is presented.

I love the soundtrack: great selection of death rock, and even some techno. I am a huge fan of that stuff so the music really hits the spot. The voice acting is also very good and matches the mood just perfectly.

The gameplay i s pretty shallow: you have yourself a basic third person shooter, yet it is an enjoyable shooter: the problem is with the levels. It feels that the creators just did a few levels then copied and pasted them. Most of the time you are doing rescue missions: while they are fine, but after an hour of doing them: you begin to hate them. There are some missions where you have to kill soo many in a time zone to get a medal. There are three medals: which you need to unlock stuff and progress through the game.

There are quite a bit of upgrades and unlock ables but I personally feel once the game is done, that's it. There is no really wanting to come back for more. The game just felt rushed in many ways, while it is a fun game: there are better games out there.

This game is about 20 dollars, while that isn't much the game is also over in about five hours: given the complaints I have about the game, Infected is a rental: and that's pretty much it. Though if you are compelled there are higher difficulty marks: and if you want to dive into getting higher medals: it does present a little replay value, that is if you like the core game mechanics, I personally felt they were rushed.

Infected is a decent game: but it feels that it's opportunity that was missed, for it could of been a great game.
