A very underrated sidescroller, full of personality and charm.

User Rating: 7.2 | Izzy's Quest for the Olympic Rings SNES
Izzy's Quest for the Olympic Rings is a fun little platformer staring everyone's favorite olympic mascot, Izzy. The game never really broke into mainstream culture, and I'd be suprised if more than 100 people know about it, but it really is fun.

The game starts off when Izzy finds out some villanous creatures have stolen the Olympic Rings! Heaven's no! How will the ceremony take place without the ceremonious rings? Well, Izzy's on the case! The game seems to take place in Ancient Greece, except with more eggs and mischevious villains. Like any good sidescroller, it's full of collecting and jumping on the badguy's head. Their are also some cool little powerups that let Izzy perform just like are Olympic heroes. He can become a fencer with a little sword, or get a baseball bat, and some others. They add a nice variety to the game. For even more variety, their are some minigames thrown in after the levels where Izzy becomes a rocket, which are good fun. The graphics are very colourful, and look better than expected from basically an ad for the Olympics turned into a game. All of the characters are filled with quirky personality, and some might make you smirk. Unfortanetly, the game features slowdown like you wouldn't believe. It really effects the game, and is the one huge fault. The sound has some catchy music, and very weird grunts and noises for all of the characters. It can take you awhile to finish this game, and there's a high score board thrown in for replayability.

Overall, Iazzy's Quest for the Olympic Rings is much better than you'd think. It's cute and silly, but addicting too. If your willing to look past the obvious faults and the herendous slowdown, Izzy's quest for the Olympic Gold is definetly worth a look.
