When are we ever gonna see another one?!

User Rating: 8.8 | Jackal NES
Very, very, very good game for its time. One of the few that I pick up from time to time and still have not completed it.
The premise is...your character is a jeep, and you go through stages just blowing stuff up--from tanks to boats to planes to turret guns and even a train in one stage--and running over the guys on foot. Collect the POW's and transport them to the helipad where they are unloaded and transported to safety. At the end of each stage you will fight a boss, not unlike all the other games out there, but these boss battles are not hard at all. For instance, there's this one boss that all you have to do is take out the turret guns to disable an electric fence. When you get to the second to last stage though, the difficulty jumps a bunch and the bosses become insane. For all the years that I've been playing this game I always get to the last boss only to die miserably.
The graphics in the game are on par with NES games of the time. It is not bad looking to say the least, so that makes it even more fun to play. The sprites that make up the many different enemies in the game are very identifiable and the characters are as standard as they come--a green jeep and a brown jeep. Oh yeah, this game has multiplayer for two player simultaneous and that is where the game really shines.
The sound is superb. I remember going to sleep with Jackal's music in my ears as a child and even now if I hear the tune from the game I could identify it easily.
Gameplay is great too. If you are looking for real world physics, then this game is not for you since the jeeps don't really handle like real world automobiles. Nevertheless, it is tat funn addicting gameplay that I'm sure will keep people coming back.
Konami, you have already brought Contra, Turtles and Castlevania to the online massives. Now it is time to make jackal available online through any of the next gen systems. I'm sure that people will buy it since it would be so worth the money. And if you've never played this one before, you need to.
