They made a jackass game, and its...good?
for what feels like an eternity, and the most recent incarnation was the movie sequel in 2005 (or 2006, cant remember) But timing isn't everything with this game, which is not only surprisingly good, is also a blast to play as well.
From a presentation standpoint, Jackass isn't up quite up to caliber with other PSP games, but it gets the job done fairly well. All the cast members are recognizable when you see them, and they all provide their voices to the game as well. Environments are a mixed bag however, as some look fairly detailed, and others look ugly. Sound is also good, with the aforementioned cast members providing the voice overs, and the soundtrack is good as well, but the fact they have the music from party boy might just make it worth a purchase overall :P
As for the minigames themselves, they're also a mixed bag. All of them are either based on stunts from the show, or stuff that just too suicidal to do in real life. Most involve mashing buttons, or tilting the playing field using L and R. It varies from game to game, and each game has 5 different goals you need to do. The more goals you do, the better medal you get for it, and the more you progress in story mode. Theres also a challenge mode, that unlocks when you beat story mode, where you tackle any minigame at your own pace, but the goals are much harder; as well theres a lackluster multiplayer mode (because so few of the games are 4-player) and exclusively for the psp, theres downloadable stunts (none available at the writing of this review though) and an editor mode, where you capture "footage" from any of the stunts and make a clipshow. Its fun, but not a excellent addition.
Overall Jackass the Game will surprise you. You'll expect it to be utter garbage just looking at it in the store, but if you just play it for about an hour, you'll be as surprised as I was.
