The Lost Frontier takes the Jak series on the go, and it doesn't disappoint.

User Rating: 8.5 | Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier PSP
I was a fan of the Jak and Daxter series for some time. I thought all three of the PS2 games were great, combining great gameplay, graphics, and sound. Jak 3 was supposed to be the final installment in the Jak series, but High Impact Games has resurrected the franchise and created a great game, but it didn't quite live up to the PS2 titles.

Graphically, the game looks amazing. It's easily one of the best-looking games for the PSP. The textures are very Hi-Res for a handheld platform. The animations look very smooth, the character models have been given a lot of attention to detail, and topping it all off is a smooth frame rate.

The Lost Frontier sports excellent gameplay. The only problem, and it's a big one, is that the camera can be incredibly hard to work with. You've still got the dash punch, spin kick, and of course, your guns. Taking the Jak II road, you obtain 4 guns throughout the game, each one with significant differences. You have the Red Scatter Gun, Yellow Blaster, and Blue Vulcan Fury. I found the replacement of the almighty Peace Maker with the Lobber somewhat disturbing, considering that I never used the Lobber even once throughout the entire game. The Lobber is like a grenade launcher, only the blast radius is only an estimated 5 feet and it doesn't launch very far.

A new addition to the Lost Frontier is Dark Daxter. Daxter falls into another pit of Dark Eco and occasionally morphs into Dark Daxter, giving him darker fur, a lust for blood, and even worse grammar. Dark Daxter's gameplay is incredibly boring and just feels like padding to make the game longer. Fortunately, Dark Daxter sequences only last about 5 minutes and there are only 3 or 4 throughout the game. As long as Dark Daxter has Dark Eco.
