Refined, polished, and fun, . . . Jak and Daxter is a great platformer that anyone can enjoy.

User Rating: 8.5 | Jak and Daxter: the Precursor Legacy PS2
The first "Jak and Daxter" game I've played was Daxter on the PSP. While it was visually impressive, I thought the game was over-rated and it made me wonder whether the whole series was over-rated. So I got my hands on a copy of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy and decided to give it a try. It turns out that the it actually is a very good game

The graphics have aged a little bit so they're not as impressive as they were when the game launched over 6 years ago, however they are clean and refined and manage to still look pretty good. Part of the reason is great art design, particularly the character design. Especially the NPC's that inhabit the various villages in the game. They are all unique and have a charming quality to them.

Music, Sounds, and Voice acting were all top notch. Not really much more to say on that.

I didn't like the story at all. I know many people say stories are not that important in platformers but my opinion is if you're going to have a story, make it good. If you don't think a story is important then don't have one at all like how Nintendo barely put any story in Mario games.

Gameplay was fun and addictive. Platforming in 3D can go very wrong if not handled correctly but Naughty Dog did a great job. I love that the controls are pretty simple, after a few minutes you'll be used to controls and ready to go through the game without worrying to much about the controls.

I liked how all the levels connected to the main game world so it felt like you were in a huge 3d world instead of playing a bunch of disjointed levels. I started to get a little bored near the end, perhaps they could've done something to spice up the last 1/3rd of the game.

Overall this was a very good game, a large amount of content, good visuals, audio, and gameplay. If the story wasn't so subpar and if perhaps they focused less on the collectathon formula, especially after it started to get boring in the later parts of the game this game could've scored in the 9's. As it is, I give it a solid 8.5
