The Hammer stroke has Fallen on this great game! Jak is back, and ready to kick some butt, once and for all.

User Rating: 9.7 | Jak II: Renegade PS2
With the end of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy came the end of the light hearted, and polite Jak. Daxter is, well, still Daxter. If you managed to get at least one hundred power cells, you got a special sneak peak of the next game, in the form of a white light that left us with a cliff hanger ending. Now, Jak and his side-kick are back, and on another quest to save the world. A good game is nothing without a good story. The story of Jak II has to deal with the thing Jak and the gang found in the end of the Precursor Legacy, a Rift Rider. After pushing a few wrong buttons, a rift ring opens, and sends the metal scourge, known as Metal Heads, into Jak’s world, as Jak is propelled to a bleak and distant future through the time rift. He is promptly arrested. With the help of Daxter, his ottsel side-kick, Jak gets free, and into a dark and hopless city. What ensues is a story of action, romance, betrayal, life, and, ultimately murder. At his side are a group of colorful and deadly characters who want to help him, or kill him. Torn, the ex-KG. Krew, the owner of the Hip Hog Heaven Saloon, and an avid weapons collector. Errol, the KG Commander. Ashelin, daughter of the Baron. A game go ford on story alone, the gameplay is a huge factor. Jak II has a large array of different mission types. Shooting plays a large roll in many of them. There are escort missions, seek and destroy missions, race missions, and missions of discovery. The controls are easy enough, R1 to shoot, the left analog to move, and the right analog to control the camera. X jumps, O unleashes a spin-kick, and [ ] punches the enemies. You use triangle to steal vehicles, which are necessary for many missions. In addition, you use the D-pad to select your numerous weapons, and you use L2 to unleash Dark Jak, a dark and brooding creature deep within Jak. Oh, and R2 activates the Jet-board, which you get when you scout the forest for Metal Head scouts. There are also rail shooting missions, which are hard as crap. That is why gameplay got docked 3/10 of a point.from the overall score. The music in the game is pretty good, and is affected by the mood of the environment around you. The music is a good indicator of enemies. If it turns fast paced, you know something is lurking around you. In the city, it reflects the sad and hopless state of it’s citizens. Overall, this game is one of the best games I have ever played. This is a very large game that is on the terms of a “light” Grand Theft Auto.
