Jak X is a different and interesting racing game,but it has its problems.
The game starts with you drinking a drink that has been poisoned. You then have to race to find the cure for it. So you get right out there racing. The races are broken up into four classes,and each class has its own tracks and objectives. There are also several race types including circuit races,deathmatches,death races,a time freeze mode,and more. You do various types of race types throughout each class. While racing,you have front and back weapons. Front weapons are things you attack with while the rear weapons are for your defense.
The games graphics are just like the other Jak games,which means they are great. The animations and colors are wonderful and the tracks look good too. The sun moves as you race and depending on that,you could be racing a track at night or day. You can also customize your vehicle using orbs you earn during races,and you can get new spoilers,wings,and other parts of your vehicle. You can also increase your cars top speed,acceleration,max turbo,and armor.
As usual,the voiceovers for Jak games are great and Jak X is no different. All the characters have great voice actors and they have emotion in their voices. The games music isn't the best but it's a mix of rock music like what the other Jak games were.
The game does have a few bugs,like getting your car caught in a rock or a steep part of a track. Also,its easy for your car to flip and slide around the track. You also run into a few glitches like going off the edge of a track and falling into nothingness. The glitches are uncommon,but they are frustrating when they happen.
Finally,the games online mode is good and smooth. When you find anyone online to play with,you can have a blast racing with others online. I experienced no lag while racing online and the online is pretty fun,with different race types like a regular circuit race,death matches,artifact races,and more.
So,if you're a Jak fan,I recommend Jak X if you like racing games and don't mind a few minor glitches. The game plays well and the online mode is also smooth. I would of rather had a Jak 4 instead of a racing game,but this will do for now.
