User Rating: 7.7 | James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing XBOX
This new James Bond game is actually pretty fun, but not without some extremely annoying faults. A good portion of the levels are pretty inventive and Bond gets to use a few cool gadgets (especially the spider), although a few more would've been nice. The game looks great and runs smooth as silk. The voice acting is seems perfect and the music is befitting a Bond flick. It seems that EA has got it all down with licensed franchises. Glad to see that somebody can do it. Gameplay is pretty varied with some creative on foot missions mixed with some slick, if not kinda bland driving missions. The driving missions look great and feel right, it's just that they're very linear and occasionally boring. For the most part, this game is not quite sure if it wants to be Splinter Cell or Max Payne. This can be a bad thing. But all in all it really seems to be about as close as you can get to being in a Bond flick yourself. If there is one real problem with the game it has to be the uber-frustrating auto-aiming system. You have to lock on to enemies with the left trigger and then shoot, ala Metroid Prime. For the most part it works until about midway through the game when the difficulty goes up a bit and you start to constantly have multiple enemies gang up on you. You'll find that you have to cycle through enemies in order to lock onto the one you need to frag. This doesn't necessarily work in the heat of battle and surrounded. And since save points are few and far between, you'll often find yourself way back at the beginning of a mission more often than you'd like. I'm all for challenging games, but when you're constantly being killed because of faulty control schemes, it can be a game buster. I'd rent this game before buying. It's certainly worth a rental though.
