User Rating: 8.6 | James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing XBOX
Everything or Nothing with all its production values turns out to be one of the most pleasant surprises of 2004 so far… Gameplay: The gameplay in its self is not necessarily the draw of this game. Its definitely nothing close to bad, and its actually very engaging at times. It is definitely a faithful representation of the Bond franchise. The game features a lot of well-done “Bond Moments” which occur throughout the game. One of the problems is that the game is difficult (on normal difficulty) and can be very unforgiving, especially with the location of its save points. Another con is the lock-on system which makes it hard to switch between enemies, and can be fairly frustrating at times especially when you come into a room of enemies and have to kill each one before the targeting system will switch. But these cons never make it completely difficult to the point where the game is unplayable. Graphics: Probably the star of the show. Even though this is a multi-platform game you couldn’t tell it by the way the game looks. The game looks great and all the character models are nicely rendered and very detailed (all except John Cleese who looks bad in terms of detail, lighting, etc.) The explosions in the game also look good, and even with all this going on the frame-rate never becomes choppy. Sound: Also a high point of the game. Of course all the stars lead their voices and all do a ‘good’ job of reprising their roles in the game. Some more than other of course but even so… All the requisite Bond noises including explosions, crunches, vehicles, and weapons are very well done. The game also includes a nice soundtrack, which includes most of the classic Bond music. Value: The games single-player alone should do it, but for those with a friend there is a cooperative mode. These are not nearly as fun as the single player and really feel extremely difficult and almost expect some sort of supernatural abilities to complete it. Overall: The game is very good, and shouldn’t be missed by any Bond fan. For everyone else, its not really worth buying, its more suited for a weekend rental.
