For a while now I have thought that movie games could, potentially, achieve greatness. Think about it... What if there was a role playing Pirates of the caribbean... Would that not succeed? Imagine an action/adventure/rpg Sherlock Holmes... Could it not be great? Think about an action/rpg V for Vendetta... Would it be impossible for that to break the trend of dreadful movie games? To answer this question on behalf of a majority of non ~Cod-MaW 2 fanatics~, the answer is written in red ink. Those could all be great games. The one thing all of those games would have in common, however, and that is that they dont "dick ride" the movies there based after. In other words, they take a risk to expand the horizon of the movies vision, rather that just copy it. This is where Avatar the Game prevails... thus leading to its downfall. Story: Avatar the Game (from now on referred to as Avatar *I know, clever, right?*) is strong in many ways... one of these being its story. *He said story!! I heard that the story was bad!* Well, my vulnerable little friend, you heard wrong. Just to spoil it for all of you, Humans venture to a far off moon where thay encounter an Indigenous species known as the Na'vi. The humans decide to be jackasses and conquer the Na'vi people. A war is waged. The end. Personally, that was all the story that I needed. For all of you close-minded retards out there, be so kind as to allow me to propose my own simple solution: go see the AVATAR movie. Maybe im crazy, but i found a bit of a connection between that and the game... Listen, im not trying to instill my own petty opinions into you, and most importantly (unlike the Reviewers) im not desperately searching for a way to come up with a different opinion than everyone else. Trust me, the only thing it doesnt explain is where you are or why youre there... "Its such a crappy game that it forces you to READ that stuff in the encyclopedia." Yea theres an encyclopedia, and everything that isnt explained orally is in there. Guess the Reviewers marked it poorly because its pregudice against thoes who cant read. I hope they feel cool. Gameplay: Avatar has some of the most fluent gameplay I have ever seen, especialy if you steer your character by the mouse, rather than by the q and e keys (looks a bit more jumpy with q and e, but still looks good.) The guns look, feel, and sound... real. Ranging from the blowback to reloading, everything features top-notch animations. The same goes for the Na'vi weapons.. trust me, every new weapon upgrade is so rewarding. Now to reach a topic that may concern a few of you, due to the Reviewers lack of mental logic. Vehicles and Mounts. "The vehicles are nothing special, and the camera on the buggy sucks and makes me feel sick." -not-so-professional opinion of a Gamespot employee. Heh heh, you make this wayy to easy, Reviewer. Id like to point out a few... counter arguments... just to confirm your similarities to both a frustrated child and the motion-sickness prone guy that sits next to you on a roller coaster. Lets see.. "the vehicles are nothing special..." is that so? I wasn't aware that other games had already claimed the flying banshees and the Human motion-controlled robots. As for the fantastic camera, I do believe that the driver of the vehicle experiences visual movements along with the vehicle itself. "Yea, well, it just copied those from the movie, so th-" Is that so? Funny, it seems that you lack the general knowledge of a third grader doing a book report on little bear. For all of you patient readers, the Avatar game has been in development longer than Assassins Creed II, has had much more time put into its making than Assassins Creed II... and actually gave the movie the vehicles and mounts. It actually gave the movie more ideas than the movie gave it, so... Anywho, gameplay is terrific. See for yourself. Graphics: My favorite game in the world is Crysis. I like Crysis for two reasons; it is a great game with great graphics... and did i mention it has amazing graphics? "yea..." No i didnt, go back into your little lair and make more **** reviews, why dont you. Anyway, the only game I have really been able to compare to crysis visually is Far Cry 2, but barely. I am pleased to say that as far as visuals, Avatar the Game is far more pleasing on the eyes than Crysis. Although crysis obviously has groundbreaking textures, bumpmaping, ect, it lacks the sheer visual joy Avatar pumps out. Sure, a few rough edges, but as for artistic design, it exceeded my expectations. ~ Final comments and snide remarks~ In my mind, Avatar took risks. It didnt follow the movies plot, which actually made viewing the movie a second time a better experience for me. If it had been released after the movie, it would have fared much better; I, however, took a chance and ignored the Reviewers. I feel I have better judgement already. Story (Reviewer):By the time I had learned to read, the review was already written. I was about to change it when my attention was diverted by a sprite. 0 (the average Crysis-loving Joe):Story was good, better than predicted.
but, to please the idiots out there, whatever. 0 Gameplay:Fantastic, some of the best. 10 Graphics: Pleased even my high expectations. 10
