Don't like SRPGS? Who cares. Get it anyway. It's good.

Jeanne D'arc is a game that blew me away. I got it for the cool looking cover, was intrigued cuz Joan of Arc is a hero of mine, and stayed because it was just plain good.

I'm not a fan of strategy games, but I found that Jeanne d'arc's battle system was rather fun and just challenging enough to keep me interested.

The battles can be long and drawn out, making it not an ideal game to play on-the-go. There's no real exploration as you don't move your characters at all- you enter an area and battle. There's no talking to NPCs and moving through dungeons. It's simply story and battles which took some getting used to on my part.

It can be a little frustrating at times- there is an unnecessary turn limit on battles. Sometimes generous and at other times too short. You can have a string of easy battles only to be interrupted by a battle in which you need to level up first or plan a serious strategy.

The cutsecenes look incredible- they're in an anime style. All the characters have rather unique looks and voices. I have to say I'm not a bif fan of the therions however. There's a certain cheesiness to animal characters IMO, and they always have stupid voices. They could have easily done without La Hire, Rufus, Bart., and even Beatrix the elf got on my nerves.

Leveling up is required at some points but VERY boring. You'll be doing battle after battle with no story reward. This makes you want to quit at times and I think the developers could have thought it through more.

The burning auras, magic, skills, group defense, skill binding etc. all added to the strategy. But the solar, stellar, and lunar stuff was just too much work and is likely to be ignored by all.

I didn't like the save system. It was too easy to screw up your play files, so I ended up with 4 files- which takes up a good amount of space. There's places where if you save, you can't go back and may have to restart the game. or where you can only use the data once through quicksave. Just annoying.

The style was cool, but I hated the big-head look all the people had outside of cutscenes. It didn't match up and looked very cartoony.

Overall, it's a good game and worth a try. I would reccommend more to experienced gamers than to a new gamer.
