J.D. should have been in a cartoon on TV, and stayed out of gaming.

When I played the demo of this game, I thought it matched a lot of the Looney Tunes quality. It has the weird SQUEAK when you jump into the air and a lot of the characters seem like something from a old Saturday morning cartoon. Well, when I actually bought the game, it didn't take long for me to get bored. The Jersey Devil model was very well done, but when it came down to enemies and environments, it seemed as though the company were using more money to make J.D. look cool than to make a good looking game. The sound effects can get really annoying after about half an hour of playing, if you aren't bored to death by the slow-paced missions first. The controls to the game are not responsive at times. Most of the time, you go to jump a large gap and then, go to hit the button for the double jump, but the game is too slow to react and you get a poor animation of Jersey Devil plunging to his doom. Speaking of which, the death animation isn't really something a little kid wants to see their big hero go through. Also, the mad scientist, Dr. Knarf, sounds a lot like something from Warner Brothers. The game play is not fun and combat is no laughing matter. You have a tail spin and a punch attack, which result to patheticly done animation. The music fits Jersey Devil's style, but if you were listening to me in this review, you would know that it isn't going to be good. Also, there is a real problem with the level design. The game starts you in a Hub, Town Square, and you are suppose to try and catch a Pumpkin Head and get more information on your villain. Well, the hub is poorly designed so that a little exploration will usually let you skip a level and go to any world you want, like the last level, where you'll mostly be mauled by poorly graphiced werewolves. Oh yes, and I cannot forget the collecting of the Nitro boxes and those damned K.N.A.R.F. tokens. By collecting all the Nitro boxes and defeating the boss, the game shows J.D. drop a veil of nitro on the boss' hideout which somehow suddenly self destructs. What I would say I liked about this game is the cartoon cutscenes. They needed less in-game cutscenes and more of the Looney Tune/Warner Brothers-like cartoons. The intro-movie is very well done, but sadly, the game's poor quality is just not worth going through to get to the next cutscene. Hey kids, don't waste your time with this idiotic game, turn on your TVs and go to Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon.
