This game takes me back...waaaayyy back! I've always loved this game, since I played the original arcade version at my local horse-racing track as a young boy in the early 80's. This is the original 1982 Williams arcade version...except you have the luxury of playing it in your living room! The game has always been fun and VERY challenging. There are no patterns to learn, no tricks, no codes...It's all skill. This is truly a gamer's game. It's you versus the machine going for big points and a high score....and it's hard.

I love this game for its fast action and challenging levels. The gameplay can be repetitive (like any early 80's game), but the levels get increasingly hard and the difficulty of it makes you keep coming back for more. It's seems so easy...then it slaps you in the face. Now, this is a direct game, the original 1982 Williams version presented by Midway, so if you are looking for killer graphics and sound, you wont find it here. This is pure nostalgia. The display is centered on your screen, but original arcade Joust graphics fill the sides of the screen so you can enjoy ostrich flying bliss in 16:9 on your HDTV (no black side-bars).

If you are a fan of Joust, this is a must buy. Right now it's $4.99, available for download for the PS3. That's only 20 quarters!! ...and it's yours to enjoy forever! I gave it an "8" - a great game, because it truly is. Always has been, always will be. Please rate this review if you found it helpful.
