Jet Set Radio future a sequel to Jet Set Radio ( Or Jet Grind Radio in the US ) for the dreamcast... Like it's Dreamcast Cousin before it Jet set Radio Future is beatifully cell shaded, and the basic concept is as follows. In Neo Tokyo a bizzare and colourful future city you play as members of a rollerblading skate gang, you stand up for your individuality and stick to the corperate machine by skating round the metropolis dodging the law clashing with rival gangs and spraying the message of freedom in the form of stylish graffitti tags all over the place. The mechanics of the game are sublime, tricks are relatively simple once you have the rythm down and the locations are varied and stylish and you'll find lots to grind along, Jump off, Ramp Up and any other movement you should like to make, the tags you spray are varied too there are literally hundreds you can collect and for the artistically inclined you can even design your own, even more variation comes in the characters you can skate around as all having their own strenghts and weaknesses. The single player story is of reasonable length and once its over you are free to go wherever you like tag more locations unlock more challenges and characters so theres a good deal of play to be had for your money too. The thing that stands out most for me about this game that makes it truly memorable is the soundtrack, it's crazy and so fantastically catchy it fits the mood of the game perfectly and I even went so far as to buy the soundtracks of both JSRF and it's predecessor thats how much I enjoyed it. To mention a negative, getting knocked over by cars on some levels can become frustrating, and on other occasions a long fall after just missing a tag marker can be a crushing blow but hey if nothing was challenging it wouldn't be so satisfactory when we finally win. The saddest point is a lot of you may have even got JSRF free with your Xbox as for a time they were shipped with it and mid-town maddness included if it's sitting there unused in your collection I'd urge you to stop reading and start playing it right now, If you don't have it then it's in the Xbox classics range these days so in my book it's an essential for any Xbox collection.
