Move over Sonic. This is Sega's best Series.
sequel...way more than we need ANOTHER Sonic the Hedgehog game.
Here's why:
STORY: 9/10
The game is not story-heavy. Here it is: Tokyo's government is corrupt and
various gangs of taggers are roaming the streets. You play as the most prominent one...The GG's!!! You must fight back against the police to
regain your freedom. How do you do this? Spray graffiti all over the place.
While not deep or thought-provoking the story is entertaining and gets the
job done.
Graphics: 9.5/10
The game uses cell-shading to the extreme. It may not be super-realistic like most games you see nowadays but it has a ton of style and personality. Every character has their own unique and awesome look, and the enviroments
look really nice too. I took off 0.5 for the slowdown in the Garage later in the game once you pick up more skaters but it's not a big deal since you won't spend much time there anyways.
Sound: 9/10
The game features a large collection of llicensed songs which fit the action
very well. There are a few that aren't so good (Birthday Cake makes me want to claw my ears out) but for the most part it works.
Gameplay: 10/10
Okay this is the best part. You skate around Tokyo looking for out-of-the-way
places with a circle mark, You must collect spray paint, reach these spots , and spray them all. Sound simple..well you also have to deal with the police who will do anything to stop you,and rival gangs of taggers will challenge you to various races and such. You also must try to recruit various skaters to join the GG's in their fight against the government. After beating every challenge and get every collectable in a given level you unlock Testt Runs to challenge yourself in new ways.On top of all that there is a multiplayer-mode which is actually pretty fun.
So please Sega make another sequel.
