Great Music, Unique Game Play
The game itself is very hard to put into words because the game play is unlike any game on the market. The idea is that you are a bunch of kids spraying paint on buses and buildings while on skates.
The skate aspect is easier to put to words. It is a lot of tricks and visuals that you would see in games like Tony Hawk; but, the controls are FAR simpler and it is a lot easier to pull off cool looking tricks. You grind on rails, jump ramps and do flips. What set this apart from other games of this type is that there is a lot more collecting to perform.
You have to grab new graffiti symbols, music and even characters. Plus why you are skating around you have to avoid from being caught by the police and mark your territory in the process.
Marking buildings and the like is pretty fun as well. It consists of combination of joystick movements and a button press or two. It is not overly difficult to mark something, but when you are skating pretty fast, it is hard to complete it in passing.
To complete a stage you have to mark a set number of locations either to paint over someone else's mark or just mark it as your own. Getting to some of the locations can be a challenge, but that is part of the game.
As the game progresses you get to hear more and more types of music and this is one of my favorite aspects of this game. I like techno style music, and if you do as well, you should like the music style of this game.
The game itself gets very difficult as it progresses, but so did the version on the Dreamcast. And since I did play the Dreamcast version, this title is very close to that one so it was not as unique as it was when I played it on the Dreamcast.
All in all, it was a great title to get with a new system and well worth a play even if you did not receive a copy with your XBox.
