From discount bin to waste bin
First of all it's a horrible console port, absolute rubbish. It has a plethora of common issues, the one that hit me first was the sound incompatibility. I had to turn off hardware acceleration to make the framerate playable, it's unfortunate since the sound quality suffers and occasionally makes dialogue sound like it's spoken by a cyborg. There is zero support from the developer, publisher or the community.
The second issue I noted was the lack of proper widescreen support, actually the support IS there technically, it just doesn't work for everyone. Not that the game is pretty anyway, it looks mediocre at times and awful at others. For e.g the cockpit view looks like it was made in paint by a seven year old.
The gameplay in the first Juiced was quirky as well, but it could had been easily remedied with some tweaks, instead it seems the devs did all they could to make it even worse. I know it's an arcade racer, but the cars in the game are so far from their real life counterparts that it makes the driving feel completely alien, they behave more like RC cars than full sized machines with proper mass.
It's not helped by the fact that there is very little in the way of controller tweaks. It supports keyboard and 360 pad(though nothing else), and you can even change the layouts, but what you can't do is adjust sensitivity, deadzone or anything like that. You will realize why that is an issue as soon as you reach the first corner, the steering is insanely sensitive which is pronounced by the the cars behaving like toys.
The "rubber band steering" makes keyboard the more natural control method since you can just steer with gentle taps. Drifting feels like ass too, and not in a good way. It's like invisible forces were pulling the car by strings defying gravity and other laws of nature, weird but I guess you could say it has a unique touch to it.
The only thing that could salvage some fun from this wreck is the online mode, but you won't find anyone to play with because no one else was stupid enough to buy it in the first place. All in all the game is a waste of time, money and hard drive space.
