Shonen Jump meets Smash Bros
The top screen is used to actully fight on, the visuals though noting that revolutionary they have a ceartin charm to them now to the bottom screen this is used to store your koma which is basically pieces of manga that you put together to form your deck which must consist of a four to seven block koma character which you actually play, a two to three block koma which is a support character (they pop up on screen and do something to help you), and a help koma which can heal you speed you up power up etc.
Although the controls are again nothing that revolutionary they are used quite well the A button to jump, the X button to preform a special move example goku does a kamemhameha, B button for a light attack, and Y button for a heavy attack, and down on the d-pad or L or R to block an attack.
I think this is one of the should own titles for ds and the mutlipalyer will last you for years to come (you can do single cart multiplayer where you use set decks, and multi cart multiplayer where you can use yuor own decks that you have created)and that the ds is still early days but this still is a great 'beat em up' which has done Shonen Jump proud.
