Has its moments. But "Kane and Lynch" doesn't deilever all the goods

User Rating: 6 | Kane & Lynch: Dead Men X360
Story: The story follows Adam "Kane" Marcus, a death row inmate who is being delivered to his supposed execution when he is informed about a break out by another inmate James Seth Lynch. During the break out Kane and Lynch escape and meet up with a criminal group know as The7. They accuse Kane of stealing money from them and that they have his wife and daughter hostage and they will kill them if he dosen't get the money in three weeks. Kane sets out to get the money with the help of Lynch and this leads to a crime filled story of trust, betrayal, and unlikely allies. I can't say the story is amazing but it has good pacing and some different characters that are twisted, but you will come to like them in the end. Also there are two different endings; one is terrible and the other is rather.... meh, but better. All in all if you like crime dramas then you will find this to be entertaining and to be honest this is probably the best part of the game.

Graphics: The graphics are a mixed bag, with every good there is a bad. First lets start with the good: The voice acting is solid, the environments are all diverse, the guns sound good for the most part, and the raw power is not bad. Now what is not good; well first off the animations are pretty stiff for the most part, the explosions look really weak and while the voice acting is good the actual dialogue is basically the F-word every two seconds. Lastly the textures and the characters models look rather bland and tasteless. While not a terrible looking game it could have used a lot more work.

Gameplay: The gameplay is where this game really loses it. So many great ideas are not executed well at all. This is a third person shooter that employs a cover system but this system is very clunky and it is a miracle if you can get into cover. Next the aiming feels rather off and even when you swear you hit a guy it just flies over his head. You also have squad commands for when your with allies but this too is clunky and it a pain in the ass to use when your getting shot at, not to mention that the AI at times is plain stupid and will just run out into the open and get shot. Now there are a few good things in the gameplay, there are some cool levels like protecting a-get-away van from the cops or maning a turret on the back of a jeep and if you have a friend you can play co-op, but only local. This game has a lot of great ideas but just dosen't live up to the hype.

Mulitplayer: I am aware that there is multiplayer but at this time I could not get a match and I will not count this against the game.

The Veridct/Final score

Story 8: While far from amazing, has a good pace, characters and over all just a mature fell to it, just don't except a great ending

Graphics 6.5: While far from terrible looking this game needed a lot more polish and improvements.

Gameplay 5: Lots of great ideas just not executed well and really hurts this game.

Multiplayer: N/A

Enjoyment 5: I liked the story, characters, and the game has its moments but I didn't even say how frustrated I got with this game.

Final score: 6.1 (about a 6)
