PERFECT FOR ANY PARTY whether your with gamers or non gamers. Diverse songs list almost helps the game out beacu
If your a singer this is a good tool to help perfect your pitches.
Now Karaoke Revolution Party I must say is a very accessible game, anyone could have a good time with it especially if they enjoy karaoke.
I highly reccomend laying down an extra $10 for the mic as its basically a real mic that only plugs into Xbox controllers, and it positively enhances the expierence. It just looks more accessible to a non gamer and plus if you were to do it Britney Spears style (AKA with an Xbox Live headset) you'll probly have to hold the controller. This has probably an 8 foot long cable, if you want the game you should definitely have the mic. The dance pad isn't as vital but is a nice add-on provided you want to spend the money.
Another one of the Reader Reviews posts up the songs so if you want the whole list check the other reviews until you find it.
Gameplay consists of little tubes or bars that run across the screen so when you hear the singer you get a rough idea of where the next pitch is by seeing these bars, because if the bar raises a little your gonna sing a little higher. You can sing in any octave, YOU DON'T HAVE TO SING AS HIGH AS THE PERSON SINGING THE SONG. You still sing the pitches just in a lower tone or higher tone and it will work perfectly fine. You don't need to sing the words right just the pitches.
There's 4 difficulty levels and none of them make it more fogiving, your either hitting the pitch or you aren't, but on easier difficulty levels you get more opints for hitting those notes. So when playing friends who sing worse then Jessica Simpson Lip sych's (if that even makes sense) just put them on easy and you play it on harder. (you can do this simutaneously) It'll even out the game and be more fun.
Dancing and singing isn't too hard you just gotta have a solid sense of rhythm.
In terms of play modes there's a hefty amount....Its worth noting there's no career mode or story mode. Anyways there's Quickplay (good for when your trying to unlock stuff or just want a quick solo or duet), single mic events (such as karaoke duels taking turns and eventually seeing who the better singer is by doing some karaoke events and/or mini games), You can have a 2 mic events, (for duets or compete the same way you did in single mic events) Practice Mode, and then you can play the mini games for high scores. (they're fun little diversions and will do the trick to keep you playing a little longer)
Graphics aren't pushing the machine to the limits but definitely give you some fun scenery to check out, lip synching is sweet, backgrounds are goofy ( on the beach level sea animals are always jumping around in the background) and cool. Menus are simple as usual.
Suprisingly these are some good sounding covers, you really aren't gonna hear almost any difference in the songs from the original version to the game versions. No Dolby Digital which is suprising bnut its still very well done.
Value...? Well if your the type who would have company that would like to sit around and fool around with karaoke this thing will entertain you all night. Especially because of the 100+ songs online to purchase (a few are free).
that would equal over 150 songs!
If you don't fall into this however you'll probably want the dance pad too as it provides a more substantial challenge.
See this is the ultimate party game. People that don't play video games know how to pick up a microphone a sing into it. The tube or bar system really streamlines it so you can have no musical knowledge and sing just fine. Its an highly enhanced, more fun, yet just as easy to use version of karaoke.
P.S.- I read, I think it was in the IGN.com review, that they were doing sing and dance like a co-op mode, one sings one dances, its a cool idea.
