User Rating: 9.2 | Katamari Damacy PS2
Originally released as Katarmari Damashii in Japan, Katamari Damacy, in a way, sneaks it's way onto American shores and premiered at the low-budget price of twenty dollars. Only thing is, this game certainly doesn't feel like a budget title. The main premise of the game involves a kooky character by the name of "The King of All Cosmos", and his gallivanting has led to the complete annihilation of all the stars. Now it is up the his son, "The Prince", to roll up things on a sticky ball called a Katamari, until it gets big enough to be turned into a star. The gameplay involves players controlling the Prince while mainly using both analog sticks. At first, this can be quite tricky, but eventually, with practice, you get the hang of it. Gameplay takes place anywhere from a small house, a small town, to the whole "world". The graphics are blocky, but charming enough to not be considered ugly. The soundtrack contains many Japanese songs, which are extremely catchy and very nice to listen to and matches the weirdness of the game perfectly. Of course there is also the sound of people screaming as you run them over and add them to your collection of items within the Katamari. For twenty dollars, Katamari Damacy is a great deal, though on the short side, the game's replayability is very high and I give Katamari Damacy a definite recommendations.
