I wasn't aware that this was made by an independent studio, the first praise I can give is that it has all the quality that any other triple A game is expected to have.
Amazing graphics and beautiful imagery, the gameplay although clunky in some aspects (the parry dynamic is not the most enjoyable) is an overall great experience. The fantasy aspect of the game is clearly inspired in Japanese and other Asian countries folklore and this associated with the music and the landscapes deserves all the praise it got.
It is a simple game, in which the story is fairly straight forward and simple and it seems to be very empty with not much dialogue or NPC characters involved, so in that regard it's a lonely journey. That is not necessarily a bad aspect but usually I tend to enjoy games that are more lively or give you the sense of multiple characters involved even if they are mostly background ones.
The later part of the game becomes a little bit repetitive and more frustrating as the difficulty increases and you need to depend more on the parry during fights, which again, for me it wasn't the best experience.
Nonetheless it's a fun game that showcases how independent studios are making terrific work, a trend that I hope continues!
