Missing some pieces from Sports Resort but makes up for this in other features.

First of all let me say this is a great game for kids 5-9 years of age. Fun and challenging while still being easy to play and control. It also launched at just under $20 .. which is outstanding for a new console game release. Sky Captain is missing some of the pieces I enjoyed about flight in Sports Resort .. mainly the animated Wii characters and the named POI locations. I didn't think much about them when playing Sports Resort but found myself missing them in Sky Captain. But this game easily makes up for those pieces in other ways. First of all there is much more content including 6 or so different kinds of planes (including a flying saucer that the kids loved unlocking), critters, cars, trains, and other flying things. There are also 3 different islands available to you. Although I generally despise unlockables I actually enjoyed them in this game as they are not too hard to obtain. I really like the fact that you can start an adventure or challenge just by flying through a ring .. this eliminates the menu and keeps you in the game .. a real plus. My only small peeves are (1) the planes do not seem quite as responsive as they are in Sports Resort (even with the motion plus attachment) and occasionally seem to suffer some sort of "velcro effect" and (2) while you do fly these planes by tilting the controller it is held more like a steering wheel and not like holding the controller as you would a paper airplane (something I found made the Sports Resort version a little more kid friendly). But I would still recommend the title. It is a standout fun game in an otherwise disappointing Wii lineup of games (I won't start the rant here) especially at $20.
