kill.switch killed itself...

I bought this awhile ago hoping it’ll be any good. I tried the demo and it wasn’t that bad. However, as I played through the missions, it started to become boring and mundane like any other shooter. It has good elements and a new concept as an action shooting game, but it didn’t convince me enough to play it again. It lacked sophistication in the levels, intelligent enemy AI, and a good storyline.

The stages are pretty simple. Go to point A then to point B then to point C and so on. The objectives and the level design in the game are linear. There isn’t any variety in going to different points or objectives. The player basically follows a straight path towards the end.

The enemy AI is surprisingly good in numbers, but lacks the intelligence to flank or take out the player effectively. Nearly all of the CPs will hide behind cover and shoot without taking any chance to do any fire and maneuver tactics. Some of them will throw grenades and would run at the player nakedly without any fire support. The enemies do not work together as a team.

Lastly, the storyline is weak and it feels like it should have had another before it. The characters in the game knew each other beforehand, but it never emphasized it enough to understand or paint the entire picture. How the story unfolds is that the character you play is under mind control, but as the player progresses he breaks free from it and seeks revenge. There isn’t a lot of drama, suspense, or any thrills to it and it didn’t catch my interest.

Thus, the game doesn’t feel complete. The level design is mundane, the AI is hollow, and the storyline is broken. It’s somewhat intense in most levels, but if you’re wondering how it’ll play, then rent it.
