Do you still have your Killer Cuts CD?

Back in the 90's as the war raged on between MK fans and SF fans a new contender entered the arena and when it entered it made a splash that still makes ripples to this date, I'm referring to the masterpiece from Rare known as Killer Instinct, You can't say Killer Instinct over 13 years later and not have someone go "I remember that game, I love that game!" This game is high on the memories of people who have long stopped going to arcades or playing games. Why? the answer is simple, it was a underdog and that underdog grabbed both SF and MK by the balls and refused to let go during the Console wars of the 90's. What this game lacked in amount of playable characters it made up with story lines, visuals and graphics. It also added something in with their SNES release that's right it may be the first ever soundtrack for a game at that time, which I'm listening to right now. That's right to get people pumped while they play KI they included a CD with all the songs from the game. I still have it to this date, which is saying a lot considering I've moved 5 times and had my place broken into once. Killer Instinct revolves around a corrupt corporation, (Sounds kind of familiar?) named Ultratech they set up a tournament that will involve 10 fighters each with their own reason for being there. This game is rememberable for several reason, One unlike using character models like MK did with the ninjas they actually went out of their way to make each character unique, I'll focus on two characters for this game we have Cinder and Glacious their names kind of give it away but they have interesting back stories to them. First off Cinder was a convicted criminal who is offered freedom by Ultratech if he goes through experimental tests and agrees go to into the KI tournament to face a Alien made of Ice (I think it's Ice) named Glacious, meanwhile Glacius is a alien who crash landed on our planet and is kidnapped by Ultratech and has horrendous tests done on him. I mean you can't get more awesome starting stories than that! Now onto the review The game has 3 standard modes, a single player a two player and in case if you have a lot of friends over a tournament mode, which is kind of oblivious since the game is a tournament fighter! this game was a port of the arcade version which was made a year earlier and I'll admit the graphics were toned down, but come on it has to be it went from the arcade to the SNES, the people who criticize this game because of the graphics are the same ones who were pissed that the first TMNT game wasn't like it was in the arcade. The sounds and music were the same from what I could remember of the arcade and the controls were very responsive, they had to be because this game had some of the longest combos I'm not kidding I've seen people link up to 52 hits in this game, that's a lot of memorizing and the controls would have to be good to do that. So onto the score I'm willing to overlook the fact that the graphics wasn't that good, but the music and sounds were awesome, the controls were great and the stories were perfect along with unique characters this game gets a Perfect 10 out of 10 from me.
