Mortal Kombat was the game that ignited my love of fighting games. I thought that the Mortal Kombat series were the only fighting games. Then comes a game that I thought was a rip-off at first. When the game started, I realized the logo was the "Rareware" logo and thought, "a Donkey Kong fighting game?" but then that addictive menu soundtrack and the entire soundtrack itself started playing. I instantly fell in love, and then I pulled off my first "Awesome Combo", I pretty much lost it then. Killer Instinct was the fighting game that made me realize that, crazy is good, the unbelievable factor was through the roof. It introduced us to the crazy numbered combos and that insanely satisfying signature "Ultra Combo". Later on in life, I realize it was a rip-off of Mortal Kombat with all the fatalities and what not, but I find this one much more memorable and enjoyable.
