Killer7 Is without a doubt one of the weirdest games, if not the weirdest, to ever come around in recent years.

How do you describe a game like Killer7. The awenser is, you cant really. The game is very bizzare, weird, and unique in every possible way. Capcom self-titled it as a "Surreal action adventure", which is a fitting description for it. Killer7 centers around a group of assassins called the Killer7. The main person seems to be an old, wheelchair bound man named Harmen Smith who holds a large sniper rifle on the back of his wheelchair. In addition, there are 7 other members, or rather possibly, different peronalities of Harmen Smith. Each member is unqiue in their own right. The first head of the 7 is Garcian Smith, who calls himself a "cleaner". Fitting description since he is the only one who can find a member of the group when they die and revive them. Some others include Dan Smith, or as he's sometimes refered to as the "Hellion" of the group and is also the badass of the 7 assassins. The story is basically a rival of Harmen, a mysterious man named Kun Lan, is turning people into weird creatures called "Heaven Smiles" and making his own terrorist group. The game also follows a very political heavy story involving a conflict between the United States and Japan. The story is very hard to describe, because there are also several, more like many, very weird spots that will make you think more than rarely "What the hell is going on???". Something not many games can say about themselves. The graphical style is the first thing that will catch people's attention. The approach is very surreal, as the self title suggests, in that many areas have some weird gradient effects to them that, well really is hard to describe without screenshots. One thing you simply cant deny is that the game is very stylish in its visuals on both the artistic standpoint and technical standpoint. Now is it any fun? Sure, it can be. If you dont mind the idea of a rail shooter. The game follows an on-rail system in which you simply press a button and your character follows a set path, with the ability to go back and at some points change your course. Then you can stop and enter a first person shooting section, which is functional and can be pretty fun. While its certainly an origional style, its definantly not something everyone will enjoy. In fact, the gameplay while not bad, is probibly the weakest aspect of the game. The audio is also well done. The music has a variety of different tracks from an upbeat rave, western, some rock and many others depending on the environment. Each song does a fantastic song off adding to the bizzare nature of the game. The voice acting is very well done and fits every character quite well, though there is some repitition when they say their catch phrases from hitting a critical. Then theres characters you meet who will be advisors are you travel, in which they "speak" in... very bizzare ways. One of the things that may be the games weakest point are its puzzles. The puzzles are interesting, though many are almost insaultingly easy and simple. Luckily, the game makes fun of this by when you ask for help from one of the advisors, he calls the player a "loser". Its always funny when they make a bit of fun of their own game. Something that should be noted is that its a VERY mature game. Its one of most deserving games of the M rating since Grand Theft Auto: San Andres and God of War. Theres a lot of swaring in the game that go as far as the F word, and a number of sexual themes. There is a bit of a sex scene in the game, but its as tame as far as these go in that you only see the face of the woman as she moans. Then of course, theres a hefty amount of blood and guts as well. Make so no kiddies are watching you play. Once you beat the main game, which is somewhat on the short side, you unlock whats called a Killer8 mode, which is a harder version of the origional game and also has an additional personality, which wont be revealed here. The game is available for the Gamecube and Playstation 2. Both are relativly similar, but the Gamecube version is definantly the better version in that it offers better presentation, and somewhat more responsive controls. This isn't a game for everyone as said. People will likely either love this game, or hate the game. You can guess what side I'm on. Whatever else can be said, however, there truely isn't anything quite like Killer7 on the market today, and if this is the start of a new trend in game design style, I'm on board.
