Really. If you want to, you can. Or you can go read up some reviews and listen to their on-rail whining or whatever and stay away from this game because of that. Well, here's what the games about.

First of all, the graphic style is obviously cel-shaded, different from those Halos, Dooms and Half-Lifes of today. You've also got music that ranges from fast-beat rave to slow and dramatic pieces. Finally, you've got voice acting...

And how does this game play?

Well, you run by holding the A button. At some point, you'll hit an intersection and you simply tap whichever direction you want to go, while holding A.

Now combat is also simple. When you hear a laugh, you'll want to go into shoot-mode, where you hold the R button. Then you scan for invisible enemies with the L button. Then you tap B to lock on to them. You fire with the A button and aim with the joystick.

Enemies have weakspots that are colored in yellow. Hit them here and they die in one hit, compared to several. The weakspot will be randomized in some enemies. Some enemies are your typical walkers, while others roll, some crawl and a few fly.

As you kill enemies, you get thick blood, which is the equivalent of experience. With the blood, you can upgrade your team individually, so careful considerations must be made. A blood cap is set on each level, so you can't farm. You also get thin blood in this game and that's used for temporary things such as special attacks and health recovery.

If you die, so long as you aren't Garcian, you can continue the game. Your body turns into a bag and you become Garcian. As Garcian, you need to walk to your bag, bring it to a save spot, revive it by rapidly pressing A and you are back to good shape.

Now, the other part to the game is the puzzles. Some are as simple as choosing Coyote and going up to a lock. Others require password inputs, choice memorization, logical ordering, etc. That sounds hard, but what I'm really saying is some are reading a word on the wall and later remembering and putting that into the code machine.

And now the Killer7!

All of their last names are smith, except for samantha sitbon who is the maid. She's got a double personality. There's old Harman in a wheelchair calling the shots. There's Garcian who's the messenger between Harman and his personalities. Then there's Dan who's the badass, Coyote, who's the thief, KAEDE, who is the emo, Con, who's the blind fast guy, MASK DE, who is the kind-wrestler and Kevin, the... silent one.

They each have their own styles of play. Kevin never reloads, but fires slowly. Kaede can zoom in, but reloads slowly.

They also each get a unique ability. Coyote can break locks, Mask can break walls, etc.

And finally, the last part about the game is the story, which is broken into two parts, the political and personal.

Politically, the game is about control of parties and the relations between Japan and the US. Of course there's more to the game than that.

Then personally, you get to know more about the K7 and the awesome conclusion at the end.

The game gives bits and pieces of information at times, which means several playthroughs will be required to fully understand the story.

I liked K7 for many reasons. You've got great voice acting, unique art design and atmospheric as well as a variety of music. Then you have cutscenes that have their own unique flair as well as ambiguous meanings. The gameplay works, upgrading adds some depth to it, the puzzles give your fair hints and enemy AI is made up with enemy variety. Finally, the political story has some truth to it and the personal story provides a powerful, emotional blast that concludes the finale of the game.
