A truly great First Person Shooter.

User Rating: 8.5 | Killzone 2 PS3
I'm very much of the opinion that if you've played one first person shooter (FPS) you've played them all, but that's not to say that Killzone 2 isn't a great and engrossing game.

I've played my share of FPS and Killzone 2 doesn't offer any more than Halo or Call of Duty but the storyline and playability make it a gripping action shooter that is difficult to put down.

There is a comprehensive single player campaign where you can try out several different weapons on your enemies. The duck and cover feature is not new to the FPS genre but it is a nice way to pick off your enemies tactically without taking damage yourself. There are opportunities throughout the game to partake in tank battles as well as being able to fight out on foot in armed and hand to hand combat.

Graphics
You will be hard pressed to find finer visuals on a PS3 shooter. The gore and dramatic battle environment are encapsulated in gruesome fashion and the level design is diverse and masterfully presented.

Sound
You can hear the deafening chatter of your gun when you empty a magazine as if you are really engrossed in a war zone, which is a great feeling. Voice acting is impressive and imaginative which gives a genuine feel for the struggle in which the characters of Killzone 2 are in.

Playability
The controls are simple to get to grips with and the progression of levels are challenging for any shooter, novice or expert. There is never a dull moment in this all action warzone experience.

Lastability
The main quest will eat up hours upon hours of your time which will see you enthralled in gruesome combat. There are several difficult levels in which to complete the game and lots of trophies to achieve.

Overall
Killzone 2 is a great title. It is entertaining, challenging and the stunning visuals will simply blow you away. It is certainly one of the best FPS I have played in a long time.
