it's got some flaws that hold it back from being a 10

User Rating: 9.5 | Killzone 2 PS3
Killzone 2 is probably my favorite FPS game now (previously being HL2)

Killzone 2 is definitly one of the best looking games ever if not the best looking console game. The game is very well polished, and very great looking and many effects that just look so gorgeous. The game does have low-res textures but the game's filters makes them mostly un-noticable. The Killzone series has one of my more favorite art designs. The Helghast always remind me of the panzer cops from Jin-Roh and now they have even more Helghast troops such as the snipers and heavies and they all look fantastic artisticly and visually.

The gameplay and in the game is basically non-stop action which means you get very very VERY little breaks inbetween fire fights. The Helghast will never let you rest at the same position forever such as seen in other games, they will throw grenades at you to flush you out from cover which brings me to the next thing
- The ingame cover system. I've always been interested in what a first person cover mechanic would be like, and well, Killzone 2 shows me what that would be like and I absolutely love it like that. They made it so that when in cover you are given a chance to see the area behind your wall, popping up and taking a shot isn't very hard as some reviews have said.
- The flaws in the gameplay? Well I have just two: 1.) To simulate your heavy armor they make you turn slow and speed up as you turn (fortunately this is absent in the multiplayer) I would have liked it more if this was a feature that could be turned off or if they just didn't include it at all. 2.) no custom control scheme. Sure the control schemes in this game aren't bad (though I found Alternate 2 to be the best one) I would have liked to have been able to set the buttons to what I wanted

Story? Story is good, wouldn't say fantastic, just good. There's really no much to say about the games story really other than I can't wait for Killzone 3 :D

Multiplayer is definitley the best part of the game, it constantly rewards you and there's some very interesting quirks to it but I don't really want to get into the multiplayer because I personally find it hard to describe.

Overall, if you haven't picked up Killzone 2 yet (WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU!?) then I'd suggest going to your local Gamestop/EB Games/Electronics section and picking up Killzone 2.

... right now....
