Everything you could possibly want in a FPS... except ...

User Rating: 8 | Killzone 2 PS3
Okay,
So I just wanted to start off that I LOVE the idea/concept of this game being a Sci-Fi Shooter was a great move and the creators did a great job developing a story... As the editors dinged it upon the forgettable story-line, I didn't see it as bad... I will go over the HUGE pluses of this game, and the few but HUGE minors of this game.

The Good:
Incredible Graphics: Just jaw dropping, when you start the game immediately its almost your ready to sit back and watch a video game, but the intensity kicks in and your immediately ready to play. Anyone heard of HDMI? Incredible.
Pseudo-Realism: Now this part is where the good and the bad I believe spawn from but the good part is that it is more realistic as to actually firing automatic weapons while running decreases accuracy, as staying prone up against a wall gives you increased accuracy... There are also no obvious cross hairs blinding your screen but they are lightly shaded into the game, just enough for you to really savor the graphics AND enjoy the FPS.
Diversity of Weapons: What I enjoyed alot about this game is that not only do you have the armaments to be a mobile weapon of mass-destruction, but the availablity of being able to get into a Mech Suite and literally tear things APART. Epic. Also online you have the ability (earned with rank) to summon A.T.A.C's and strategically place Defensive Units.
Online Play: I can appeal to this one a lot as well because the only play is brilliant... With unlocking the higher ranks allow you to obtain more weapons/classes (for example medic class to revive people, or engineer class to place defensive structures). The ability of Clans to wage valor points against other clans before they battle is a GREAT PLUS!! I love this nice job KS2.

The Bad:
Flawed Accuracy: This is why I rated KS2 a 8.0, and by doing this deserves some in-depth analysis... After all the great things you can say about the game as far as diversity of weapons/online play/graphics and what not... in a FPS shooter... This is a HUGE downer...
Now obviously, you got to understand that the makers of this game are trying to make this shooter as realistic as possible, which is good! But if your prone up against something, or even trying to use the cover system there's so many wrongs... in fact while playing in game I try to AVOID using the cover system because it is more of a disadvantage rather then an advantage.
The amount of time it takes for you to get in and out of cover, is about 2-3 seconds. Now this doesn't sound like a lot, but in most other games its way faster ( < 1 second ). But look at it this way... I am trying to beat the on the Elite difficulty, and if you are spending 3 seconds to get OUT OF COVER and 3 to get BACK INTO COVER, and even while in cover doesn't guarantee you wont get shot ... You don't even think about hitting anything except a adjacent wall while trying to protect yourself...(The masters of the cover system is Gears of War, just thought this needed to be in here for the comparison)
And aiming is non-existent in online play... As the time to switch in-between eye-sight and regular vision isn't as bad, everyone online is so used to running around and when they need to shoot either slow down or crouch for increased accuracy, over 90% of shooting online consists of hip fire as opposed to actually "aiming" through the eye-sight.

I hope this gives an understanding of why this is so frustrating to me in a FPS game... as if the aiming is messed up, it is almost as if the very foundations of the game are rattled... Overall still a good game, but I don't think I will have the patience to put up with the accuracy to complete on the elite difficulty.
