After months of having all my friends with a PS3 telling me I needed to get Killzone 2 and giving it the upmost praise, I decided to rent it. I popped it in and it started right up (No install, I was pleased) I then chose my difficulty level (recruit, because I heard it was extremely hard). After a nice intro it let me run around a bit to get the feel for the controls, immediatly I noticed that the aiming controls were quite sluggish, so I went into the options and upped the sensitivity to max. Even after that the response was still slow, but I was able to deal with it and hoped that was my last disapointment. Then shortly after a quite graphically unimpressive cut scene I was thrown into battle with almost zero understanding of the controls then a poor excuse for a training level ensued, less than 2 minutes later I was told to blow up a bridge was immediatly flanked and was catchin bullets from all angles and died.
After my (very) brief playtime in Campaign I decided to try out the Multiplayer because that is what most people seem to enjoy. I played one round and did not get a single kill, and was killed numerous times. Now this is not because I suck, I have been playing FPS games since I started getting into gaming (started with Unreal Tournament for PC) This game just has a terrible controler layout and is truly not designed to be COD player friendly. Now I'm not going to say this is terrible, for someone who is a Gears Of War fan or has never played functional FPS and has no bad habits formed by playing COD or any other shooter it could be construed as fun or even playable.
This is one game that is truly not designed for anyone who has ever enjoyed playing FPS games. The controls are horendos, the gameplay lacking, a poor introduction level, sub par graphics, and a ridiculously hard difficulty.
