Solid Game but Needs a Party System and Co-op

LOVED

Graphics: KZ2's hyped centered around the graphics, and Guerilla Games met the hype. There is no denying this game is beautiful. The character models and animations are some of the best in gaming. Other graphical touches like the particle effects, for simple things like steam looking like real-life steam, and presentation add a layer of polish to KZ2 that sets it apart.

My only graphical complaint would be for the campaign's redundant level design. The vast majority of the campaign takes place in grey and brown/orange rooms and small open areas. Kinda bland.

Audio Design: If your audio receiver accepts a DTS HD signal, then you're in for a treat. KZ2 is one of the best sounding games I've ever played. The battlefield comes alive with the DTS audio trac.

Dialogue: I guess it says something about me when one of the most memorable aspects of a game for me is the heavy cursing in the dialogue. I freakin' loved it! Not a campaign to be played with kids around.

Campaign: For the 9 or so hours the campaign lasts, you'll be glued to your HDTV. The action is intense and frantic. And be prepared for fight because this game is not easy. Simply a great campaign.

HATED

Lack of Co-op: Maybe it's just me being a co-op fanatic, but there's no excuse for an FPS like KZ2 to not include co-op these days. Co-op in some FPSs (like Bioshock and Metroid Prime) wouldn't make sense, but you have a partner with you for 99% of the campaign in KZ2. Factor in the 4yr dev time and other AAA franchises (Halo3, Res2, CoD) including the feature, and the lack ofsome type ofco-op becomes even more inexcusable.

No Party System: I've said it before and I'll say it again; Every FPS needs to have a Party System for online. It is no coincidence that the best & most successful franchises this gen (Halo3 and CoD) include this feature.

CONCLUSION

KZ2 is a solid & competent FPS that unfortunately lacks a couple features that should be standard for FPSs these days. If co-op and Party System aren't important to you, then there's plenty to enjoy in KZ2. The campaign is awesome, the graphics are top-notch, DTS audio is superb, and the online is a standard affair yet still fun.

KZ2 doesn't push the FPS genre forward nor does it set itself apart from other FPSs. But it's still a fun game worthy ofa rental....or a discounted purchase
