Gamespot is wrong. (big surprise there) best story in a firstperson shooter ever. if u own a ps3 u must own this game!
U will spend 10 to 12 hours playing though it. in that time u will kill about 700 Helghans. drive all sorts of vehicle .eg. jetpacks, space fighters, funny looking tanks and snowmobiles. get to use very satisfying guns.
Now the story
very good the best in a shooter. great voice actors make it believable. good progression.u go from a abandon city to alien jungle to snow filled slopes to junkyard to Space where you have a fun space battle to finish it off. the cut scenes are so enjoyable and dont distract from the non stop action. the new baddies are great even though one looks like the joker. you can kind of understand why they want war and revenge.
Now the graphics
has the best graphics to date. nothing comes close. everything looks realistic explosions look great. the helgans look great too.
the gameplay is very good and weapons r a joy to use and look great. one of the guns shoot green lasers into someone then they blow up and the nailgun is back and jetpacks. the jetpacks are ok. but i liked on foot better. the new brutal melee is very cool. u get to snap there necks, slice there necks, put ur fingers in there eyes and more. but would of liked a few more animations with the brutal melee. the cover system is very good too. the Ai is first class and realistic. they keep u moving by throwing grenades. and using cover. the sounds r great from guns to vehicles to wind (sorry about the wind). new enemy class's like the capture troopers they r very deadly when they start running at u with there big knife's. hungry for ur throats to be slashed.
Now the online mutiplayer.
it is as good as cod but not as good as BBC2. would of liked more maps and death match. and u die lots. but it is still very fun and i can see myself
spending a lot of time in it.
the only reasons this game doesn't get a 10 are:
1: lack of vs split screen. 2: too much f words no need for any. 3: dont spend enough time in the snow. 4: more online maps 5 maps r not good enough. 5:

a very fun game worth the money. class leading graphics, sound, Ai.
