Lets get this out of the way firstly. The game looks absolutely amazing. On a technical level, the game is the best you will see on the PS3. How does the game compare to its preprocessor and other games on the market?

Killzone 2 was a great game, the game looked incredible and there was a weight to everything the player did; from aiming, sprinting, jumping there was a heft to everything. It made it that more satisfying when you shoot the red-eyed Helgast, or other players online. The weight made Killzone 2 original and different than any other shooter on the market. It's a shame that the weight was not all that well received.
In Killzone 3 the weight is still there in everything that the player does, but they did make the control much more quick. I personally loved the heavier feel in Killzone 2. This isn't the only thing the developers did to cater to a more broad audience.

The story is Killzone 3 is a great improvement over its predocessor. It has a great pace and wonderful set pieces. The scale sure has increased greatly and it is for the better. The detail in the game is mind blowing. Sparks fly from shots that hit the ground, bugs eat the dead bodies in the jungle, and pieces of debris floats up in zero gravity. It should also be said that the campaign can be played in co-op with a partner. It only has local co-op, the co-op is not playable online.

I have played the game using the Playstation Move controller and navigation controller. I used the default settings and I found it to be quite a good experience overall. It sacrifices movement for accuracy. It can be kind of awkward to melee. If your looking for a shooter to use your Move controller, I would definitely recommend Killzone 3.
Note: I have not had an opportunity to play the game in 3D. If you have a native 3D television the game is 3D capable.

There is a game mode called Botzone where you can experiment with the maps and play with up to 15 AI controlled bots. Botzone can not be played with other players though which is a disappointment.

The online multiplayer is a major part of the game and most of the players will come to play the online only. The online multiplayer has added new features and for some odd reason taken out quite a few that were loved by most in Killzone 2. The same quicker controls work in online which makes the pace of the game much more like other shooters on the market. It is easy to jump into and fairly easy to jump into games with friends. Some inconsistent shooting and hit detection still come up at times and long load times and be a pain. It should be said that the menu system is absolutely horrid. The monotone red is not pleasing to the eye. It looks as if they didn't put much care into the menus, online and in during the campaign. The multiplayer has taken a step backward overall. I'm not sure why they have changed the multiplayer as much as they did when they had something going great with Killzone 2's multiplayer. The developers seem to be listening somewhat to the players and have come out with patches. It seems as if reviews from Killzone 2 really hit hard into the heads of the developers and made them go overboard with changes, clearly they messed with something that was great. If its not broken don't fix it.

Overall the game is a good game. The multiplayer is easy to jump into and the story is as good as you will find with any other First Person Shooters. It is great fun to play the campaign with a friend and when playing with friends online I have had good experiences.
