Alright, I know some of you guys are skeptical about how good Killzone really is. But let me reassure you, this game does mash Halo to a pulp. In fact, after you play it, you'll be saying "Halo who?". This is by far THE BEST game for any console. It is one of the best games of all time, graphically, difficulty and even the story blows away all of the competition. First of all the gritty and uncensored nature of this game makes it feel and look that much better. It really looks like you're in a fight for your life and are defending your home planet against an invasion. Also the rifles and other firearms in this game feel so real. What I mean by this is that in games like 007 Rogue Agent, all the guns look fake and just don't feel real. But in this game, the weapon animation and sounds are spot on, giving you the feeling that you really are handling the ISA M82-G or Templar's M-84 rifle. It feels like you're running through the Trenches outside of Vekta City or lowcrawling through the jungle. And the whole game is about strategy, because it's pretty much four ISA Rapid Reaction people versus the whole Helghast army. Secondly, everyone talks about how Killzone looks like a crappy war movie...Well if you haven't noticed yet, that's what geurilla went for. Also all of the Helghast forces are stronger than most other people, meaning they can take many hits before actually going down. On to the AI. In this game, the Helghst troops are simply amazing. It really is like you're battling online, rather than in a single player campaign. The troops form up and also use crazy tactics such as flanking moves and ambushing you from every possible place. For instnace in the very first level when I was in the Vektan slums, There was a metal devider in the middle of the road. I thought nothing of it and ran right past the devider and at the end there were 3-4 Helghast soldiers, well I didn't want to face all of them at once so I ran back down the hallway. Thinking they would all come on the same side, I foolishly waited for them. Well 2 came at me and I finished the off with ease. Thinking the other two enemies were at the end of the devided hallway, I lobbed a grenade and ran for it. When I got to the end of the hallway the 2 "missing helghast came from the opposite side of the devider and turned me into swiss cheese. Stuff like this has turned regular with my experiences in this game. Also the Helghst Shock troops in particular have a sort of IED drill, where they identify the enemy, lay down on the ground and lay down suppressing fire for their advancing comrades. It really is an awesome sight. Of course it is a deadly one, but it's still amazing. As I've already mentioned, the sounds of the weapons in this game are phenominal, They sound real and that same reality adds to the total encompassing realism of the final product that is Killzone. My ony gripe is the repetitiveness of the attacking Hellghast as well as your ISA counterparts. during a tense firefight, it's not uncommon to hear the same phrases screamed more than once. But still it does add to the overall presentation of the game. It's just the tone at which they scream that makes it hit close to home. It really sounds like these guys are in pain or they're scared, it adds a nice touch. The Multiplayer (Online and Offline) is where this game really shines. It's great to run around and just frag the crap out of your friends. Also, there's the ability to have bots on your team, making it that much better. It also makes the rare occasion of meeting up with the other Real player that much more exciting. Also the Offline multiplayer has all of the same modes of play as the Online multiplayer has. The only gripe I have is that the maps on the Multiplayer portion of this game are a bit skimpy, but they really are the best maps in the game. Such as beach head, which is like a scene straight out of total recall. While the One in the jungle feels tense and it's more like close quarters combat because you never know where the ememy will come from...making for some tense firefights and containing good ambush locales. Overall Killzone is a top notch game that shouldn't be overlooked by anyone who is of age or has the means of getting it. It's a great single player and an even better multiplayer. A definate must for anyone who likes game period.
