Although I never had the pleasure of playing through the multiplayer mode because i don't have a PS2 online adapter, I played through the story when I rented the game about a year ago. Okay, here's how it goes down: The aiming is not up to par with other games, but particularly Halo which it is being compared to. The second mission involving the sniper rifle was agonizing in that you have little idea of where the guy they want you to hunt down is hiding and the aim with the sniper rifle just jumps all over the god damn place. I must have spent a minute just trying to line up a good shot. The weapons are bland. Don't get me wrong, I love going in a blasting up a crapload of Helghast as much as the rest of us, but I just didn't like the arsenal of weapons. The levels were VERY similar to each other when playing through them. Sure there was a change of scenery from D-day style trences to a ghetto invasion to a winter assault which Is good. But each level was painstakingly repetative. I could say the same for great PS2 shooters like Red Faction and Medal of Honor: Frontline, but the story grabbed you in those games rather than just another lame-ass war. There weren't enough types of enemies. No matter what level it was just beating the crap out of some dudes with yellow eyes and hearing that guy on the communicator yelling, "GET THEM!!!" Now of course not everything in Killzone was bad. The graphics were incredible in the fact that the cutscenes and the gameplay looked great. Although I never played the game online, I did play through a few solo deathmatches for the hell of it and it was rather fun (except for the fact that I REALLY sucked at FPS games when I played Killzone.) And lastly, I liked the fact that you could play with 4 different charcters who had a unique characteristic to themselves. Pwnage. Now that the game is only $20 I'd consider buying it, but I don't think it was worth the $50 price tag that it had for quite some time.
This game is not a Halo 1 killer, however it is a super fabulous fps, with an awesome story.... Graphics don't make a game, but they help in Killzone. Overall, this game has better graphics than Halo 2! That is my opi... Read Full Review
